CALYCEAL FORNIX RUPTURE OF ΤΗΕ KIDNEY
Abstract
Sinus reflux is very probably an extreme form of pelvic backflow with rupture of the fornix and resultant retroperitoneal urinary extravasation. Overloading (iatrogenic mainly) of the lymphatic and venous system of the kidney caused by excessive pressure is usually implicated, affecting the renal parenchyma, of the renal sinus and Gerotas' fascia. Most cases of the latter variety are caused by acute colculous, ureteral obstruction and observed during intravenous pyelogram with abdominal compression. Aetiology and diagnostic procedure of calyceal fornix rupture during intravenous urography are discussed.References
