Abstract

In order to evaluate the morphology of atheromatic plaques of carotid vessels, five hundred (500) patienιs with Ischemic cerebral findings or signs of brain infarct were evaluated with Colour Doppler Sonography. In 62% there were observed heterogenity, various echogenity, abnormal contour and existence of ulcers in 5,4% while in 1,4% of atheromatous plaques echogenity appeared to be equal with this of blood. Thus, EYD is the better method in evaluation of either and minor changes of carotid vessels or in more severe changes of the degree of stenosis.
