NUTRITIONAL PLANNING OF DIABETES ΙΝ PREGNANCY
Περίληψη
We investίgated prospectively and retrospectίvely two groups of diabetic pregnant women to estimate the value of nutrίtional planning. 1st group: 18 women with diabetes in pregnancy and without a nutritίonal planning in all the duration of their pregnancy. 2nd group: 16 women wίth diabetes in pregnancy and with a standard nutritional planning in all the duration of thier pregnancy. Frequency of feeding was directed at avoiding hyperglycemia or hypoglycemίa.
Supplementation with vitamins and iron was the same ίn the two groups of patients. Bacteriuria was found to occur 2.2 times more frequently in the women of the 1st group compared with those of the 2nd group. Preeclamsia occured in four patίents and eclampsia in one patient of the 1st group and in none of the 2nd on (p<0.05). Α neural tube defect was found out in one fetus of the 1st group and no congenital anomaly was detected ίη the 2nd group. Our conclusion is that correct nutrίtional planning may play a very important role in the course and the outcome of diabetes in pregnancy.
